One of the Most Dangerous Highways in the U.S. Runs Through Texas
If you’ve traveled across Texas, there’s a very good chance you’ve traveled on one of the most dangerous highways in the United States.
I must admit to experiencing anxiety while driving on the highway. It’s one of those things I could never fully get over. And let me tell you – I've traveled all over this great country of ours and no matter how much time I spend on the road, it just won’t go away.

The thing about it is that it tends to depend on the road I’m on as to how high the level of anxiety is. For instance, I can feel my blood pressure rise as soon as I approach I-35W in Fort Worth. I’ve seen people do more stupid things on that stretch of road than I can count.
But truth be told, that’s kind of a common theme on Interstates in general. Everyone is in a hurry to get where they’re going, otherwise, they would have taken a more scenic route (at least that’s my preference, anyway).
So, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that every single one of the most dangerous highways in the country is an Interstate.
And wouldn’t you know, one of the most deadly highways in the United States runs all the way across the Lone Star State from east to west. There was a total of 284 fatalities on I-20 in 2019, making it the second-most deadly highway according to a study by The Zebra.
