A brand-new millionaire is running around North Texas, thanks to the Texas Lottery. And no, it’s not me. I’m pretty sure that even though I love my job, I wouldn’t be working today had I just scored a million bucks. 

I have to say that as someone who has to write about some pretty heavy subject matter like crimes, these are the sort of stories that I love to write about. I can only imagine the joy one must feel when they discover they just won a life-changing sum of money.

Someone in Azle knows that feeling, though. The anonymous resident hit the $1 million jackpot in the Power 20s scratch ticket game. The lucky Texan bought the ticket at Murphy Express 8779, located at 6781 Lake Worth Blvd., in Lake Worth, according to a press release. 

The thing about winning the Texas Lottery is that it has the potential to be what corporate types would refer to as a “win-win.” In addition to the player scoring $1 million in the game, the retailer is eligible to win $10,000 through the Texas Lottery’s Retailer Bonus Program. 

If you’re into playing the lottery, you could be the next millionaire, thanks to Power 20s. That was only the second of four $1 million jackpots to be claimed in the game. The overall odds of winning a prize in Power 20s are 3.61, including break-even prizes.

Aside from awarding billions of dollars in prizes to players since its inception in 1992, the Texas Lottery has also given billions of dollars to support education in the Lone Star State, as well as Texas veterans.
