Our friends over at Wallethub determined the best place to celebrate The Fourth of July this year and some pretty shocking cities made their list in my opinion. For instance, Washington D.C. didn't make the top ten. Historical American cities like Boston didn't make the top thirty. Sin City, that's right, Las Vegas came in at number one!
Shocking Texas Results for The Fourth of July
When it comes to ranking cities in Texas, you expect the 'big four' to dominate those first four spots. Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, and Austin. San Antonio and Austin are in the bottom half of the list. Letting surprising towns like Lubbock and El Paso into that top five spot.
How Did Wallethub Get Their Best Cities for The Fourth of July?
To determine the best and worst cities for celebrating Independence Day, WalletHub compared the 100 most populated U.S. cities across five key dimensions:
- 1) Fourth of July Celebrations
- 2) Affordability
- 3) Attractions & Activities
- 4) Safety & Accessibility
- 5) Fourth of July Weather Forecast
Each of those five dimensions gave every city a score out of a possible 100. As you can see, Dallas coming in at number one for Texas barely cracked above 50. Las Vegas which took the number one spot for the country got the highest score with 74.80. If you're interested in more, check out Wallethub's breakdown on their website.
Have a fun and safe Fourth of July next weekend and God Bless America.
