Watch Frightening Footage Of 1999 Bridge Creek-Moore, Oklahoma Tornado
This first-hand footage from storm chasers chasing the F5 tornado that tore through Bridge Creek and Moore, Oklahoma on May 3, 1999, is downright chilling. I will say that if you suffer from PTSD after being through a tornado, you might not want to watch it.
There’s nothing graphic about the clip shared by extreme meteorologist Reed Timmer. But hearing the fear in their voices as they cry out while the tornado roars by them could trigger someone.

The Bridge Creek-Moore tornado is still the strongest tornado ever recorded, with peak winds of 301 mph, according to The Weather Channel. The massive tornado claimed the lives of 36 people and caused $1 billion in damage.
A word of caution for those watching the video: while the chasers sought shelter under an overpass and survived, that’s not a good idea. It used to be considered a good option for those seeking shelter, but we now know that it is not. Ironically, it was the same tornado in which a woman was sucked out from under an overpass and dismembered.
As someone who is fascinated by severe weather, I share a lot of tornado content this time of year. Mostly because many folks are interested in it, but also because it serves as a reminder of just how fierce tornadoes can be. Y’all stay safe out there.
