To me, German Thrash is so distinctive. I don't know what it is about European Metal as a whole, but there's more of a classical influence than the Thrash that I love so much delivered by their American contemporaries (not that there aren't plenty of classically influenced bands here in this country).

It doesn't get much better than Nile when it comes to modern Death Metal in my opinion and the wait is almost over for the new album At The Gate Of Sethu.

After almost three years since the release of their last album Massive Aggressive and a move from Earache to Nuclear Blast Records, Municipal Waste have dropped one of - if not their best - albums to date with The Fatal Feast.

You know I love it when bands go above and beyond in their music videos. No dig on a straight up performance video but I'm a child of the 80's and I still love it when a video is more of a short film than just the band banging on their instruments. So yeah...I'm diggin' the new Municipal Waste video for "The Fatal Feast".

Like 'em or not, a new Meshuggah album is nothing less than a significant event in the world of metal. The band continues to expand their sound while never disappointing their core and Koloss is more of the same but this time around they've outdone themselves as in it's one of their catchiest releases in my opinion.

Municipal Waste bassist Land Phil is a HUGE wrestling fan but not exactly a huge guy so it would appear that he made the right career decision. In this cleverly titled video "Rocky 666: Metal Meets MMA", Phil mixes it up with MMA fighter, professional wrestler and Heavy Metal fan Josh Barnett.

With a song title as cryptic as "Do Not Look Down" one would expect the lyric video to be dark and equally cryptic on it's own and one would be correct. The Meshuggah promotion machine is fired up with all guns blazing here in the weeks leading up to one of the most anticipated metal albums of 2012, Koloss.

Okay so I pussed out last Saturday and didn't post the new Meshuggah track "Break Those Bones Whose Sinews Gave It Motion" when it was (reportedly) intentionally leaked by their manager but what can I say...I'm paranoid like that. So to make up for it, here's the official lyric video instead.

Blasting technical death metal makes me happy, therefore it should come as no surprise that I am eagerly awaiting every release from Origin. And luckily they don't make us wait too terribly long...you can typically count on a release about every 3 years...
