This video of a train hitting a semi that was stuck on a track and then derailing in Pecos, Texas might make you feel a little sick to your stomach. 

It’s one of those instances when you hope and pray that everyone involved is okay, but deep down you know that’s highly unlikely. Unfortunately, that’s the case.

According to First Alert 7, the train crashed into the Pecos chamber building. As of this posting, at least one person lost their life, and one person was seriously injured in the derailment. 

Union Pacific released the following statement last night (December 18): 

At about 5 p.m. CT, an undetermined number of Union Pacific rail cars derailed after a train collided with a tractor trailer in the crossing near Oak Street and Dot Stafford Street in Pecos, Texas. There is no HAZMAT involved and the train crew is being evaluated by medical personnel. At least one person has died and another is seriously injured.

There’s no other information available at this time.
