For my money, the roads in the Dallas-Fort Worth area are scary enough on a day-to-day basis. And then a video like the one below comes along and just like that, a new fear has officially been unlocked.

To be clear, I’m not talking about being afraid of being behind a dump truck with the dump bed raised on the highway. I tend to be very aware of my surroundings while behind the wheel and am pretty sure I would be quick to pull over and stay way behind the truck as it made impact with the overpass.

But all I could think about as I watched the clip was how fortunate it was that no one was on the overpass when the truck hit it. Who knows? The weight of the vehicle combined with the impact could have caused that thing to crumble. And there’s no telling what might have happened if someone had been on a motorcycle crossing the overpass when the truck struck it. That could have been so bad.

Thankfully, it doesn’t appear anyone was injured in the incident. However, it’s probably going to be a long time before anyone can safely use that overpass again. Because you and I both know that nothing happens quickly when it comes to road work in the Metroplex.
