Everybody knows we Texans can’t be trusted on the roads when a little rain falls.

I’ll go ahead and admit it right here in front of God and everybody – I've been in a similar situation as the driver of the truck in the video below. I once hydroplaned, started sliding sideways, and ended up in the median. Thankfully, no other vehicles were involved in the accident.

The thing is, we don’t get much rain in this part of the country. So, when it does finally rain the roads are extra slick due to all the dried oil and dirt mixing with the rainwater. You have to be very careful when driving after it rains for the first time in a few weeks or longer.

And then, of course, you have those who either don’t know that or think they’re immune to hydroplaning.

Like I said – I've been there and done that, so I probably annoy people who are stuck behind me as I slowly make my way down the road when it’s wet. However, I don’t give a damn. Hydroplaning on the highway is absolutely terrifying.

So, consider this post and the accompanying video a Public Service Announcement of sorts.
