Just when I thought I had seen everything Texas has to offer, along comes a snow devil. 

If you’re not from around here, you probably have no idea what a dust devil is. They’re basically whirlwinds that resemble a tornado but aren’t nearly as powerful. As a kid, I would run through them whenever I saw one nearby.

In most cases, you wouldn’t mistake a dust devil for a tornado. But every now and then they look a lot like one. Kind of like the one in the video below. 

I can see how someone who didn’t know any better might freak out a bit thinking they’re witnessing a rare snow tornado. But no, it’s just a whirlwind harmlessly tossing a little snow around. 

It’s been a wild week of winter weather here in North Texas with some of the coldest temperatures we’ve seen in a while. Lucky for us, cold weather doesn’t typically stick around for long. It’ll be blazing hot outside before you know it.
