Summer is almost here and the best way to cool off in Wichita Falls is a trip to Castaway Cove. We got a sneak peek at the new ride that will be ready for Opening Day.

Castaway Cove Waterpark will officially be open for the 2025 season on May 17th. Season passes are always available if you want to spend the summer at the park. This year Castaway Cove has installed a new four lane racing waterslide. The cool thing is that the ride, actually tracks how fast you go down the tube. I got to ride it on Sunday when the waterpark was filming a commercial. Castaway Cove was kind enough to give me a GoPro to wear so you can see what it's like on Riptide Racer.

Since it is an actual racing waterslide, Cake's song 'The Distance' felt like a good fit over top the video. Sadly, I got last place. Yes, a father and two small children defeated me and I would like a rematch. Castaway Cove was filming a commercial on Sunday, so keep an eye out for that so you can get some more looks at this new ride. If you have been on Pirate's Plunge before at the park. Riptide Racer is attached to the same tower that one is on.
