Texas Representative Has Been Living in Assisted Living Facility for Months
Looks like one congresswoman has not been representing her constituents for quite some time now.
Republican Kay Granger Represents Texas' 12th District
Since 1996, Kay Granger has been the congresswoman for Texas' 12th district. This area of Texas is the western half of Tarrant County, as well as most of Parker County in the DFW region. In her most recent election of 2022, she received 64.3% of the votes. An anonymous tip came in to the Dallas Express News that Congresswoman Granger was living in an assisted living facility and has not been working for months.
Staff Making it Seem Like Granger is Hard at Work
Representative Granger last cast a vote in July of 2024 according to the house floor. She represents over two million people in her area. However, someone is running her social media pages and staff are making it seem like it has been business as usual. The Dallas Express' tip lead to them visiting her office in Fort Worth which has no employees inside of it. According to the building staff, no one has been in since before Thanksgiving.
Representative Granger's page is filled with posts like the ones above, but all of these are old photos from previous appearances. If you call her office, you're greeted with a message that says, “I am sorry we are unable to answer your phone right now. We are really glad you called us. Please leave your name, phone number, and a brief message, and someone in our office will call you back as soon as possible.” Since the office is abandoned, these messages will be going unanswered.
Republican Statement on Representative Granger
Tarrant County Republican Party Chairman Bo French reportedly told The Dallas Express a lack of representation for Rep. Granger’s district, which includes parts of the county, is “troubling to say the least. At a time when extraordinarily important votes are happening, including debt ceiling, disaster relief, farm bills and border issues, Kay Granger is nowhere to be found,” the outlet quoted him as saying. “The margin in Congress is razor thin and the lack of a Republican vote representing CD-12 disenfranchises 2 million people. We deserve better.”
Representative Granger will officially retire on January 3, 2025. Many are now wondering how it's possible for her to not retire early if she has been living in an assisted living facility for months now.
