This little guy is going to be fighting for the rest of his life and I know our community can come together to help him out.
Keep Scrolling to Find Out How You Can Help Kaiden Barrett
Sometimes a story just tears at your heart strings and this one is pretty rough today. I became aware of a very young child in Wichita Falls this week. Kaiden Barrett had a pretty rough life from the start. At just three months old, he was given 48 hours to live. He was being lethargic and not eating. It was determined that something much worse was going on.
*TRIGGER WARNING CHILD ABUSE*
It was determined that Kaiden's biological mother was abusing him. He had multiple fractures, millimeters from being internally decapitated, retinal hemorrhages, brain bleeds, a stroke as a result of the shaking, strangulation, and choking, abrasions, and bruises all over his body. It's a miracle that a three month old baby was able to survive this.
Wichita Falls Family Adopted This Little Guy
Jenn and Derrel Barret took in Kaiden at just six months old. Just six months later, the couple legally adopted him and is thankfully in a much better situation with them. Obviously, with everything that Kaiden went through at just a few months old. He will be in and out of the hospital probably for the rest of his life. The family has several benefits happening that you can help out with.
Benefit at Legend's Roadhouse on June 9th
On Sunday June 9th, go have lunch or dinner at Legend's Roadhouse from 12pm-6pm. They will be doing a poker run, 50/50 raffle, and a silent auction. Vendors, food, and live music will also be happening that will help young Kaiden get Cord Blood/Stem Cell treatments. The procedure is something that Kaiden needs and the procedure is being done in Germany. Money raised from this event will be going towards that procedure and trip.
Other Ways to Donate?
Follow Kaiden's Kourage on Facebook for updates. The family also has a GoFundMe setup if you would like to donate that way. The family needs around $25,000 for everything involved with this. That includes the surgery and the travel to Germany. I hope to see an update from Kaiden's family that they're making their way to Germany at some point. Hopefully this gets some more eyeballs on this little guy who had a rough start to his life to say the least.
