When it comes to historic places in Texas history. The Alamo is at the top of many people's list to go visit. It's estimated over 1.5 million people go visit it every year. Many don't know another Alamo exists and it's just rotting away.

Check Out Alamo Village

Back in 1957, production began on a film based on The Alamo. It starred John Wayne and for the production, Hollywood built a life size replica of the historic Alamo in Bracketville, Texas. Throughout the years, this set was used by many for productions based on the Alamo. In total, sixteen different movie productions shot here, along with dozens of others for television.

Map of the Property

The set featured many things you would see in an old west town. General store, town jail, leather shop and so on. After the filming of The Alamo, a John Wayne museum was added on the property.

What Happened to the Alamo Village?

Sadly the owner of the property died in 2009 and briefly opened for a period of time throughout the years after her death. No one has been allowed on the property since 2018. That was a liquidation sale in 2018 to sell off different props from the movies shot there, but the buildings remain in tact...for now.

Who knows what happens to this piece of Hollywood history. Right now it remains behind a barbed wire fence with no future in sight.
