Nothing screams “Texas” quite like a horse tied up outside of a Whataburger.

When I was in the Navy, one of the first questions people from up north would ask me when they found out I was from Texas was if I ever rode a horse. Of course, the answer is yes.

Not that everyone from Texas has ridden a horse. It just so happens that I was raised around a bunch of cowboys. As the old saying goes, when in Rome, do as the Romans do.

It’s also no secret that most folks in the Lone Star State love Whataburger. I fall into that category as well.

So, I got a kick out of it when I saw the below video. Certainly, we can agree that a horse tied up outside of Whataburger is about as stereotypical of Texas as it gets.

Several people commenting on the video on X (formerly Twitter) say that it’s a guy in Lubbock they regularly see riding around town on horseback. If you happen to know him, give him a high five for me. He sounds like my kind of guy.
