Ever wonder how much money you need to earn to be considered middle class in Texas? The answer may surprise you. I was especially surprised when I learned the salary that is considered to be the high end of the middle class.

Then again, I’m no financial guru. I’m just an on-air personality and content creator who spends most of his time talking about tunes and writing about the stupid things people do. So, for you, the answer may be a no-brainer.

Anyhow, I stumbled upon an article by CNBC that shared how much it takes to be middle class in each state and having never really given much thought to what’s considered to be a middle class income, I was interested to see the answer.

Here’s how it breaks down for those of us in the Lone Star State:

  • Low end of middle class: $50,515
  • High end of middle class: $151,560
  • Median household income: $75,780

As I mentioned earlier, I was surprised to see that someone making $151,560 a year is considered to be middle class. Maybe I’m just an old poor boy, but that seems kind of upper class to me.
