Video Footage of the April 12, 2022 Tornado Outbreak in Texas
Tornadoes and severe weather, in general, are part of living in this part of the country in the spring, but this has been a particularly active storm season.
We’ve now had two major tornado outbreaks within weeks of each other. The first occurred on March 21, followed by a round of tornado-producing severe thunderstorms yesterday (April 12). Multiple tornadoes touched down in Central Texas in Bell and Williamson Counties.
KXXV Chief Meteorologist Matt Hines reported that 23 people were injured and 12 were hospitalized with 1 in critical condition following a tornado in Bell County.
KXXV and others on Facebook shared video footage of the tornado that touched down near Killeen in Bell County.
The storm that swept through Central Texas also produced large hail, some reportedly "grapefruit-size", according to the Killeen Daily Herald.
There were also reports of two tornadoes that had touched down near Jarrell in Williamson County.
As of this posting, there were no injuries reported from those tornadoes.
There's still no word as far as the strength of the tornadoes, but the damage was significant.
Sounds like we could be in for more as another round of severe weather is in the forecast for this evening. Y'all stay safe out there.
