There’s no denying the many myths that surround the Lone Star State.
For instance, there are people out there who believe Texas won its independence at the Battle of the Alamo. While “Remember the Alamo!” was the battle cry that motivated the Texas army during the Battle of San Jacinto (which led to Texas’ independence), the Alamo was a crushing defeat.
Other popular myths include the notion that every Texan wants to secede from the United States, and that we all drive pickups, ride horses, and dress like cowboys. The fact is, we’re probably pretty much on par with people from other states in those areas.
However, there are some things that folks from other parts of the country believe are myths that actually aren’t.
