Texas Beware: The Porch Pirates are Coming
A recent study to determine the worst states for porch pirates revealed a troubling statistic for Texas.
I don’t know about you, but I’m always a little on edge when I buy something online. Not because I’m afraid I’m getting scammed (even though it’s certainly possible), but because of how bold porch pirates can be.
Think about it – this group of criminals almost exclusively operates in the middle of the day when most people are at work. Not only are they committing crimes in broad daylight, but doorbell cameras are pretty standard these days.
So, porch pirates must know there’s a very good chance they’ll eventually get caught. I guess they figure the risk is worth the reward.
That’s what blows my mind about them. I would imagine that in most circumstances, they don’t know what they’re getting, yet they are still willing to risk jail time for it.
But let’s face it – porch pirates are here to stay. And those of us in the Lone Star State need to be especially vigilant.
That’s because a study by The Action Network found Texas to be the worst state in the country for porch pirates. Yep, we have it worse than the other 49 states.
10 Worst States for Porch Pirates
- Texas
- North Carolina
- Florida
- California
- New York
- South Carolina
- Washington
- Virginia
- Kentucky
- North Dakota
While the results are concerning no matter what time of year it is, they’re especially concerning because more and more people are doing their holiday shopping online these days.
Y’all stay vigilant out there.
