The Texas Climate Is Very Bad For Your Hair
A study of major U.S. cities found that the climate in every major Texas city is bad for your hair.
To be honest with you, I never gave much thought to just how much the climate affects your hair. As someone who has had long hair for decades, the only thing I ever noticed is that my hair gets very frizzy when the humidity is high.
But until I got a press release from the folks behind the beauty scheduling software Goldie, I had no idea just how bad the climate here in the Lone Star State is for your hair.
Researchers analyzed critical environmental data like wind speed, UV index, water hardness, and humidity to reach their conclusions. And if you’re from this neck of the woods, you know we have a whole lot of each of the aforementioned factors.
So, it’s no surprise San Antonio has the 3rd-worst climate for your hair in the United States. Only Miami and Tampa were ranked worse in the study, respectively.
The good news is that there are plenty of things you can do to help shield your hair from the elements. Goldie General Manager Ian Stribling recommends taking the following precautions to protect your locks:
To protect your hair from the elements in a city environment, shield it from the wind with a scarf, choose anti-frizz products for humidity, wear a hat and use a heat protectant to guard against UV rays, use a clarifying shampoo, and consider a shower filter to combat hard water.
