Money’s tight for many people these days. If you’re on a strict budget but really want to get away for a vacation before summer’s over, you’re in luck, because Texas is home to one of the cheapest summer destinations in the country.

While I’m a notorious homebody, I do feel the need to get away for a bit when summer rolls around. And it’s rare that I ever vacation in a spot that’s not an easy road trip from Wichita Falls. And by easy road trip, I mean a spot that I can drive to in one day.

I’m also the one who keeps up with the budget in our home. And let me tell you – I watch that thing like a hawk. It’s always top of mind when we’re planning to drop a big chunk of change on something like a vacation.

And I’m going to be perfectly honest with you in that we’ve had to nix planned vacations because our money was a little too tight.
