Famous Texoma Author Getting Special Exhibit at Wichita Falls Public Library
For the next few weeks at the Wichita Falls Public Library, a special exhibit will be set up for fans of the very popular author.

When it comes to famous people from Texoma, someone who got national attention from Archer City, Texas was author Larry McMurtry. Many of his writings were inspired by our area. Probably most famous 'The Last Picture Show'. However another one of his books is being shown some love right now at the Wichita Falls Public Library.

Lonesome Dove Exhibit Open at Wichita Falls Public Library
Back in 1985, Larry McMurtry released the book 'Lonesome Dove'. In 1986, it won the Pulitzer Prize for fiction. Then in 1989, was developed into a four part mini series for CBS where it would earn nineteen emmy nominations and win seven awards. Turns out the entire series is on YouTube for free if you want to watch it above.
What is in the Exhibit?
Above you can see some of the stuff that will be on display in Wichita Falls. This exhibit has been loaned to us in Wichita Falls from the Texas State Wittliff Collections at the Alkek Library. What we have in Wichita Falls is over fifty photos taken from the shooting of the mini series on CBS.
How Long is it in Wichita Falls?
Obviously this exhibit is on loan, so it won't be forever. Don't worry, you will have plenty of time to check it out over the next few weeks. The exhibit will have its finally day on October 10, 2023. It should be able to check it out during normal library hours which are:
