We’ve all heard of 10K runs, half-marathons, full marathons, Couch To 5K training plans, but a ZERO POINT FIVE K? Now, that’s something new!

Downtown Wichita Falls Development presents the first ever Hotter’N Ale 0.5K on Saturday, August 26th. That’s Hotter’N Hell Hundred weekend in case you’re not big on cycling or running.

The general idea of this “run” is to bring our out of town visitors into some of our unique downtown establishments. Participants are encouraged to dress in their best ‘70s style athletic wear and will be led through the course by “coaches”. Not wanting anyone to over exert themselves there are several “rest stops” along the way including 8th Street Coffee House, Broken Tap, Gypsy Uncorked, Half Pint Taproom, Hook & Ladder Coffee & Wine, Iron Horse Pub, Karat Bar & Bistro, Gidget's Sandwich Shack, and Wichita Falls Brewing Company.

You must be 21 to register and registration for the 0.5k is capped at three waves of 25 runners each. For the serious underachiever, or VLP (Very Lazy Person), there is a special package that allows you to ride the trolley and zoom right past the other participants.

For non-runners there will also be a Hotter’N Ale 0.5k Block Party that is free and open to all ages. The block party will feature yard games like corn hole and ladder golf as well as a Best Calves contest, a DJ providing music and more. All activities begin at 5 p.m.

Proceeds benefit Downtown Wichita Falls Development, a 501(c)3 non profit, and their downtown revitalization efforts.
