Football season will kickoff before you know it and here in Texas. High school football is little different. These cities go all out under the Friday night lights.

Certain towns in Texas shut down on Friday nights and will actually fill these stadiums to their full capacity. It's pretty crazy in Texas that some high school football teams have a higher attendance than many college games on a Saturday. Notice, this is just the highest capacity stadiums and not necessarily the nicest or most expensive.

10. Dick Bivins Stadium (Amarillo, Texas)

The 15,000 seat stadium is used by Amarillo High, Caprock High, Tascosa High, and Palo Duro High. Not only do the football teams play their games here, the soccer teams do as well. Fun fact, you know the AstroTurf fields that have the little rubber pellets? This was the first stadium to ever have that installed in 1998.

9. John Kincaide Stadium (Dallas, Texas)

Next coming in also at a 15,000 stadium capacity is over in the Big D. It serves as home to Carter and Kimball High Schools. Football, soccer, and track events are held here. Fun fact, the track course is named after Olympian Sha'Carri Richardson who went to Carter not too long ago.

8. Stallworth Stadium (Baytown, Texas)

The 16,500 capacity stadium is used by Robert E. Lee High School, Ross S. Sterling High School, and Goose Creek Memorial High School. It's primarily used for football and soccer. Fun fact, it's the home of the Bayou Bowl. Which is a game played between the best high school football players in Texas (Houston/Baytown area) against the best of Louisiana.

7. San Angelo Stadium (San Angelo, Texas)

The 17,500 capacity stadium is primarily used for football by Central High School Bobcats and the Lake View High School Chiefs. For a period of time, San Angelo State University also called the field home. Fun fact, photographs of the stadium were featured in an exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City as an outstanding example of modern engineering.

6. Astound Broadband Stadium (Midland, Texas)

This stadium technically has 15,000 seats, but it can hold 18,000 with standing room. The stadium just underwent a name change back in 2022. It used to be called the "Grande Communications Stadium". It's used by Robert E. Lee High School and Midland High School. Plus a minor league soccer team calls the stadium home as well.

5. Eagle Stadium (Allen, Texas)

In what maybe the most controversial stadium on the list. The 18,000 capacity stadium is used by only ONE high school. The Allen Eagles are the only team to use this field. The Eagles definitely have had quite the success on the football field. When it opened in 2012, they won 54 consecutive home games until 2021.

4. Alamo Stadium (San Antonio, Texas)

The 18,500 capacity stadium is used by Brackenridge, Burbank, Edison, Fox Tech, Highlands, Sam Houston, Jefferson, and Lanier High Schools in the San Antonio area. The stadium has been nicknamed "The Rockpile" since it features a lot of limestone in its construction.

3. Farrington Field (Fort Worth, Texas)

The 18,500 capacity stadium is used for football, plus track and field. Three stadiums are used by the Fort Worth ISD for all the following schools.FW Paschal, FW Arlington, Heights, FW Southwest, FW South Hills, FW North Side, FW Trimble Tech, FW Western Hills, FW YLMA, FW Dunbar and, FW Diamond Hill. The schools rotate between the three stadiums, but Farrington is by far the biggest.

2. Ratliff Stadium (Odessa, Texas)

Now technically this stadium should be further down on the list because it has actually gotten smaller. When it originally opened in 1982, it could hold 19,302. In 2008, handicapped seating accommodations and better seats were installed throughout the stadium bringing the capacity down to 17,931. Yes, this is the stadium used for the movie 'Friday Night Lights'. It's used by Odessa and Permian High Schools.

1. Memorial Stadium (Mesquite, Texas)

The name Memorial is used for many high school football stadiums. The biggest is over in Mesquite used by Poteet, Horn, West Mesquite, North Mesquite, and Mesquite High. The full capacity is 19,400. If this stadium wasn't big enough, the Mesquite ISD has ANOTHER massive stadium clocking in at over 11,000 seating capacity. That one doesn't have enough to make it into this top ten, but this area sure loves their high school football stadiums.
