One of the Best Cities for Beer Lovers is Right Here in Texas
Let’s talk about two things I love – beer and Texas.
While I do like to enjoy a few brews, I’m no beer enthusiast. I’m a very basic, easy-to-please beer drinker. Just give me a beer and I’m happy.
However, I have several friends who fall firmly into the beer enthusiast category. They’re the type of beer drinkers that are always in search of a beer they haven’t had.
And it’s a good time to be a beer enthusiast.
These days, you don’t have to travel far to visit a brewery. Unlike the 90s (when I turned 21), craft breweries are spread across the United States.
If you’ve ever thought about planning a road trip centered around visiting craft breweries, the website TastingTable ranked the top U.S. cities for beer lovers using four key metrics: the number of breweries per capita, bars per capita, beer-tasting tours offered, and the average cost of a beer.
Those of us in the Lone Star State don’t even have to cross the state line to travel to one of the best beer cities in the country.
Researchers found that Austin was the 15th best U.S. city for beer lovers. Our state capital has an average of .45 breweries and 5.76 bars per 10,000 citizens.
Austin also offers 15 beer-tasting tours and has an average beer cost of $6.00. The city scored 40 out of 100 possible points in the study.
