Don’t get me wrong – if you’re a financially disciplined person you can make credit cards work in your favor. If you’re able to pay the card off in full each month, you can rack up some serious reward points and avoid paying interest. However, not everyone is that disciplined. 

More often than not, those little nickel-and-dime charges add up over time and people find themselves in financial distress. That’s when it’s time to consider debt consolidation or, God forbid, bankruptcy. 

Our friends at WalletHub analyzed data from the 100 largest cities in the United States to determine which were the most financially distressed and Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, and Austin were among the 10 cities with the most people experiencing financial distress. Ouch.
