Claiming to have the best barbecue in Texas is a bold statement, but someone has to make it.

The thing about the Lone Star State is that you don’t have to go far to find great barbecue. In fact, some of the best I’ve had didn’t come from a barbecue joint. I know some great backyard barbecue pitmasters in these parts.

But when it comes to barbecue places (or any type of restaurant, for that matter), I’ve found Yelp to be an excellent guide. I’m rarely disappointed by a place with a high rating on Yelp.

And I love nothing more than to spread the word about great grub.

If you’re like me, you have a restaurant bucket list. And that bucket list gets longer by the day. I realize I’m never going to be able to try every restaurant on there, but I’ll damn sure try as many as I possibly can.

There’s a lot of freedom in accepting you’ll never be able to cross everything off your bucket list. That’s why I make it a point to try the ones that are considered the best of the best.

When it comes to the best barbecue in Texas, you’ll find it at Corkscrew BBQ in Spring. Yelp ranked Corkscrew as the 2nd best barbecue joint in the country. I’ll be sure to make a stop there the next time I’m in the Houston area.
