Wichita County Sheriff’s Office Sets New Record for Cocaine Bust
A traffic stop led to a massive drug seizure which sets a new record for our area.

Looks like a simple speeding ticket may turn into life in prison for a man out of El Paso. The Wichita County Sheriff's Office pulled over Noe Ricardo Ruiz for doing 68 in a 60 mph zone. According to officers on the scene, Ruiz was nervous and could not explain where he was headed. Police got the driver's permission to do a search and discovered something very interesting inside the vehicle.
Largest Cocaine Bust in Wichita County History
Turns out the vehicle has hidden compartments, which officer found. Inside these compartments were 36 packages which officers field tested and the substances tested positive for cocaine. The weight of the packages came in 92.4 pounds, which beats the previous record from this past April of 40 pounds of cocaine. That man was also from El Paso that was arrested by the way.
Wichita County Shows Off Massive Drug Bust
Noe Ricardo Ruiz was arrested for a charge of manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance over 400 grams. No bond has currently been set for Mr. Ruiz, but since the amount of drugs is so high, he could be facing a maximum felony charge of life in prison.
