Cowabunga!

This past Saturday was my birthday and I wanted to do only one thing. Go re-live my childhood and see the new Ninja Turtles movie. I was kind of mad I couldn't see it in 3D, but I would be willing to settle for the standard movie.

The Ninja Turtles movies I grew up with had the awesome Jim Henson costumes, but nowadays it's way cheaper to use CGI. We all knew this from the last movie, but the Turtles took advantage with the CGI with a lot more action. Whether it was jumping around New York to sneak into Madison Square Garden to watch the Knicks play, or literally jumping from one plane to another, it was action packed, as any Michael Bay produced movie would be.

If you grew up watching Ninja Turtles you wanted three things in the movies. Bebop, Rocksteady and Krang. Holy crap, we finally got everybody! Bebop and Rocksteady were awesome. A couple of their lines actually had me laughing out loud. Krang was honestly kind of a disappointment. He's on the screen for what seems like seconds. They definitely leave it open for him to return in another movie.

In the first movie, I thought Megan Fox was an average April O'Neil, basically nothing special. This movie, she is awful. It seemed like it was just an excuse for her to show off her body for the majority of the movie. She only does an actual newscast one time and it's in the final five minutes of the movie. Bad-ass reporter April O'Neil only does one newscast?

Casey Jones makes his return to the big screen. Just an average performance, but I appreciated the one scene he was in with the bar. He is doing an investigation to find Bebop and Rocksteady. The jukebox is playing Vanilla Ice and that is obviously a nod to 'The Secret of the Ooze' movie.

Finally the surprise of the movie, for me at least. Baxter Stockman. If you watched the cartoon, he was the scientist that accidentally made himself half fly through an experiment that went wrong. In this movie, he is the one that created Bebop and Rocksteady. He is played by Tyler Perry, who was awful playing him. I was just shocked to see Baxter Stockman in a Ninja Turtles movie. Just need the Rat King to complete the 90's cartoon nostalgia.

In conclusion, we have a Ninja Turtles movie with all four turtles, Splinter, Shredder, April O'Neil, Casey Jones, Bebop, Rocksteady, Krang and Baxter Stockman. If you enjoyed the 90's cartoon show, you will enjoy this movie. It doesn't even compare to the 90's movies. Except the third one, that is awful. NEVER WATCH THAT MOVIE AGAIN! So grab some pizza before hand and then go enjoy a new Ninja Turtles movie.
