Remember When Wichita Falls Got WWE ‘Monday Night Raw’?
I thought Wichita Falls only got house shows. We had 'Raw' back in the day?
I lost a bet the other day. I thought WWE only had come to Wichita Falls for house shows. Which is basically a show that is only for the people in attendance and not aired on television. Turns out back in 2005, WWE took over Kay Yeager Coliseum for one night.
Five matches went down that night. First up was MY GIRL Trish Stratus defeating Torrie Wilson in a quick 1:51match. Next up, Trevor Murdoch pinned The Hurricane in another quick 1:51. In the quickest match of the night, just under one minute. Tyson Tomko defeated Eddie Craven.
Here is where we get into our lengthy matches and maybe the people some casual fans are more familiar with. Ric Flair(Give me a Big Ole WOOOOO) defeated Carlito in 20:31. The show closed out with a big main event. An eight-person tag team. John Cena, Matt Hardy, Shawn Michaels, and The Big Show defeated the team of Chris Masters, Edge, Gene Snitsky, and Kurt Angle. That final match lasted an even twenty-two minutes.
I was able to find only one clip, seen above, from that night. In between the matches Eric Bischoff, general manager of 'Raw' at the time was going to strip John Cena of his WWE title and give it to Kurt Angle. Before he does, that epic theme hits. 'No chance that's what you got.'
Vince gets pissed Eric gave the WWE championship to Kurt Angle. John Cena keeps his WWE title and Vince gave a promo for an upcoming 'Raw'. It would actually be the first ever three hour 'Raw' broadcast, the homecoming they're talking about is there return to the USA Network. Mick Foley, Triple H, Hulk Hogan and Stone Cold will all be there. Plus a special WWE Championship match against John Cena...and Eric Bischoff? I put that match just above this paragraph if you want to check it out.
