Feral hogs have caused widespread devastation to people's property and an Oklahoma Senator is trying to cut through the red tape for you to protect your property.

It's estimated that feral hogs cause 1.5 billion dollars in damages across America every year. The eat farmers crops, devastate ecosystems, destroy fencing, and contaminate waterways. Oklahoma has on average 30 to 50 million dollars in damages every year due to feral hogs.
What Do You Currently Need in Oklahoma to Hunt Feral Hogs?
- A depredating animals license from the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food, and Forestry
- A permit from the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation
- An agricultural exemption from the Oklahoma Tax Commission for nuisance control
- A permit for hunting feral hogs at night
- A special license for hunting feral hogs during primitive firearm deer hunting season
Senator Deevers says this is common sense solution to a serious problem. If hogs are causing destruction on your property, he believes you should be able to handle the problem yourself without having to file a bunch of paperwork first. The Free to Hunt Feral Hogs bill is set to be considered by the Senate in the 60th legislature beginning on February 3.

We will wait and see what the rest of Oklahoma thinks about lifting permit restrictions for feral hog hunting.
