Oklahoma Family Puts Up Noose on Property to Scare Away Trespassers
A no trespassing sign only does so much. A noose, yeah, that gets your point across.
If you had been traveling down the highway in Okmulgee County, Oklahoma you may have noticed a very strange sign. The sign reads "It's best not to be hanging around this area after dark." The sign also has three nooses hanging from it.
It got a lot of attention the past week and the homeowner has taken it down. Police asked the owners to take it down for the possible danger of people stopping on the highway to look at it. The homeowners were not technically doing anything illegal.
Some people were calling the sign racist because a noose reminds people of lynching black people. The owners stated it was not intended to be racist. The sign was to deter all thieves, regardless of their race.
