Man Shot, Killed In Northern Clay County

The Clay County Sheriffs’ Office received a report of a shooting at on FM 2393 in Northern Clay County at around 1:17 am Sunday morning. Officials from the sheriff’s office, DPS and first responders discovered 46 year-old John Derek Hamlin dead. Hamlin had been shot once in the chest. Sheriff Kenny Lemons said witnesses at the scene were interviewed and released. Hamlin’s body was sent for autopsy. The investigation is ongoing.
