It's no secret that High On Fire main man Matt Pike likes to go hard when it comes to drinking but apparently the time has come for him to make an attempt to give it up.

Here's the official press release:

Oakland, CA metal band HIGH ON FIRE has announced that it will be forced to miss this summer’s Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival as front man and guitarist Matt Pike enters treatment for alcohol rehabilitation.  The award winning power trio (also featuring drummer Des Kensel and bassist Jeff Matz) will put its scheduled touring plans on hold indefinitely as Pike takes the necessary steps towards regaining his health.

While I hate to hear it that one of the best live bands going right now won't be a part of the summer's biggest festival, the main thing is that Matt gets the treatment he needs and moves forward in his battle against the bottle.

Yeah, that's a blow to Mayhem but this year's lineup is one of the strongest yet with Slayer, Slipknot, Motorhead, Anthrax and others so the fest will definitely be worth checking out. Mayhem stops in Dallas Tuesday July 10 and you can get tickets and details here.
