Ozzfest Isn’t Happening This Year

Ozzy made it official in a statement on the Ozzfest Facebook page:

Ozzy has now confirmed for us that there will be no Ozzfest 2011 “No, not this year. I just finished a lengthy arena tour of the U.S., so I’ve decided to tour Europe this summer instead.”

And yes, a whole bunch of people are pissed...except me. I haven't considered going to an Ozzfest in years and probably wouldn't have went this year. The lineups, quite frankly have sucked for the most part with the exception of 2004 which was pretty damn solid front-to-back.

I didn't like the idea of sitting in 100 degree heat for an entire day to see three or four bands that I dig when I was 28 and I damn sure don't like the idea at 38. It's just not worth it to me. And honestly, the majority of bands I'm into would be second stage bands who would be playing, at the most a thirty minute set and I can catch them in a small club and really get the full experience of the band.

Don't get me wrong - I'm down for a festival as long as there are more than a few bands that I want to see. But those are few and far in between. Besides, if festivals are your thing there are plenty to choose from: Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival, Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Tour, Vans Warped Tour, Summer Slaughter (definitely more my thing), Slaughter Survivors and for people in this area Rocklahoma. So quit your bitchin' and support the festivals that are doing it.
