If I was drunk and you had this thing in the backseat. It would keep me occupied for my ride home.

We have done a lot of stories the past couple of months about Uber drivers being attacked by drunk passengers. The company is trying to come up with a solution to this problem. Since people use their everyday cars for Uber, they probably don't want to install a divider between the backseat and the driver. Similar to what is in some taxis.

Uber has started an experiment in Charlotte, North Carolina. Several cars have started putting the classic toy, 'Bop-it' in the backseat. “An intoxicated rider who is engaged in something interesting is less likely to be irritable and aiming aggression at the driver,” said Joe Sullivan, Uber’s chief security officer.

In Seattle, Uber has started using passenger-facing mirrors in their backseats. Studies have suggested people are more likely to self-moderate their behavior if they see their reflection, the company says. I would prefer to play with a 'Bop-it', that's just me though.
