Unless you're like me and teach your children to love death metal at a young age, this video of a baby waking up and totally thrashing out to Abiotic will amaze you at just how well an infant can connect with some serious brutality.
Because nothing goes better with boobs than black metal, Lightning Swords of Death give you a heavy dose of both in the video for 'Baphometic Chaosium'.
Nothing against Swedish death metal because it's definitely good stuff, but I've always favored the more brutal style that comes from our country, particularly the Tampa bands of the early 90's. I was immediately struck by how American Sweden's Aeon sounded upon first listen and that was the first thing I asked guitarist Zeb Nilsson about when he called me for the December 22 edition of The Oath.
I'm always down for the "meat and potatoes" of anything. Whether it's music, videos, sports, movies, or whatever, I'm okay with sticking to the basics.
Kinda like re-thrash in the early 2000's, bands playing old-school hard rock/metal are popping up all over the place these days. Don't get me wrong - I dig it and even my brothers in Coffin Crusher are doing it now and have my full support. But admittedly I'm one of those people who are wary of trends and tend to develop a prejudice against bands that I perceive to be jumping on board with the "next big thing" (even if we are talking "big" in terms of the underground).
I absolutely love it when bands go all-out in their videos. And while Cattle Decapitation have always impressed me, the mini-film for "Kingdom of Tyrants" is easily one of the most brilliant things they've done.
In case you needed a visual as to how bad it would suck to be encased in concrete, Cannibal Corpse have you covered with the new video. And let's face it - it wouldn't be a Cannibal Corpse video without some sort of gruesome visual to go along with the best damn Death Metal band on the planet headbanging in unison.
Here's a little something for my fellow guitar geeks. In the first installment of his instructional series "The Leads Are Weak", Job For A Cowboy guitarist Tony Sannicandro rips out the lead to "The Signature of Starving Power" from JFAC's Gloom EP.
