Check Out the New System Wichita Falls Will Be Using for Water Lines
Next month, construction will begin on replacing old water lines in Wichita Falls off of Taft Boulevard. Here is how the city plans to do it.
Just a heads up that The City of Wichita Falls next month will begin a pretty big construction project in the neighborhoods of Clarinda, Cambridge, and Miramar near Taft Boulevard. Apparently 2,350 feet of water lines are starting to deteriorate and they need to be replaced. This does mean if you live in those neighborhoods, you may experience some water issues while this project is underway.
Wichita Falls Using Pipe Bursting Method for New Lines
The city is using a 'trenchless' method to replace this pipes. Essentially it means less ground is going to get torn up to replaces these pipes. Which is good news for the grass on your property not getting destroyed. Essentially when the new pipe is going in, it is destroying the old one. It's called pipe bursting and you can see how it works above.
How Long Will This Construction Project Last in Wichita Falls?
The city is planning on starting to replace these water lines in November. If everything goes correctly, they expect it to be completed by May of next year.

The City of Wichita Falls Water Distribution Division currently maintains over 35,000 active water meters, 580 miles of water pipeline, 2,850 fire hydrants, and over 10,000 water valves. Through wear and tear throughout the years, they will need to replaced. Hopefully, it is not too much of inconvenience while this is going on. While water services will not be shut off, temporary water mains will be run above ground to maintain service.
