One week ago, I wrote a story on a possible "Egg My Yard" Easter scam that affected some families in Wichita Falls and surrounding areas Easter morning. We now have an update on the situation.

Just in case you did not read my original story, you can click that link for all the details. In short, a girl in town was offering to egg people's yards for a fee. Several people in Wichita Falls offer this service. Well apparently some folks Easter morning did not receive any eggs even though they paid for them up front.

Clearly, this is not something that can be made up at a later date. The girl was accused of not answering phone calls or texts from affected families. I wrote my story in the hopes that it would put more pressure for this girl to return the money.

Families Have Been Returned Egg Money

The Facebook post below shows one person getting their money back, but the messages also refer to my recent article and asking for it to be taken down. The post was put up at 10:30 p.m. on Friday night.

The post was from the alleged scammer's mother. Comments are turned off on the post, so I could not respond there. She also said to call her which I did Saturday afternoon when I got back from a broadcast. Below is the conversation we had in full.

Phone Call With Easter Egg Mom After Money Returned

Apparently since my post, the girl's mother claimed she has been the victim of harassment and cyber bullying. Like many in town, we were all wondering why her daughter ghosted these people last weekend.

Kiley and Cynthia both gave me the same answer, it was late and she was sick. I think if a text was sent explaining that she could not get the eggs over on Saturday and that families would be getting their money back. This story would not have blown up the way it did. It's like all my ex-girlfriends have told me, "How long does it take to send a text?"

Don't get me wrong, those people would have still been pissed, but at least they would know their money was being returned.

Poster Theft Remains Unanswered

The one thing that I still refuse to believe is that Kiley did not steal this poster from another girl in town. The posters are literally identical. Word for word, picture for picture, price for price on the eggs.

Kiley and Cynthia are both sticking to the story that ChatGPT gave them this flyer. Which I don't doubt was made using A.I., but you mean to tell me you put in the same verbatim prompt that another girl in town did? I'm not buying it.

Above is the flyer from the other girl in town, who had to release a statement that she was not affiliated with Kiley. Cynthia on the phone told me that several people in town were doing Egg My Yard promotions, which is true. However, I don't see the other people stealing posters. Some examples below.

I also found a Haylee Gentry, and Expressive Designs who also did Egg My Yard promotions this year. I cannot embed those since they were posted in groups, but links attached to prove all posters and prices are different around town.

I cannot find anyone else in town that has the same exact poster that Kiley and Sarah had. Obviously the "Egg My Yard" concept is not some unique intellectual property that someone owns and technically neither is the poster. However, it's kind of messed up to just steal someone's poster verbatim in your own town.

I am happy that the families received their money, and like I said on the phone call, I do not believe that money would have been returned if the pressure had not been put on. I think it should have been returned that Sunday, but Kiley said she would return it by Friday, which she did. However, the not stealing of the poster is something I refuse to believe did not happen.

Hopefully next year all families receive their Easter eggs, and I can just report everyone in Wichita Falls had a happy Easter.
