Sadly another individual also drowned in their vehicle this time near the town of Prague. The flooding was near S 3513 Road and E 1020 Road, northwest of Prague. The Prague Fire Department and Oklahoma Highway Patrol attempted to rescue the individual, but sadly they were unable to get there in time.

How to Tell if a Roadway is Flooded?

Highway Patrols are currently working hard to shut down or warn drivers of flooded roadways in both Texas and Oklahoma. Highway patrols have but barriers up in front of roadways warning drivers that the road ahead is flooded. DO NOT DRIVE AROUND THESE. A mere six inches of fast-moving flood water can knock over an adult. It takes only two feet of rushing water to carry away most vehicles. This includes pickups and SUVs.

If you come to an area that is covered with water, you will not know the depth of the water or the condition of the ground under the water. This is especially true at night, when your vision is more limited. If you're driving near a curb and the water is above that, you should not be driving onto that road.

Drive Texas has a map of flooded roadways in their state. Oklahoma.gov has a link setup as well to warn drivers of areas to avoid currently. Once again, turn around, don't drown.
