Help Out Texoma Firefighters With a Big Benefit in August
Thanks to all of our firefighters and volunteer firefighters in Texoma for help keeping us safe. Now they're asking for your help.
Some of Our Local Firefighters Are Having a Baseball Tournament
Looks like several volunteer fire departments (and a sheriff's office) are coming together to help raise funds for some firefighters right now.
- -Archer City VFD
- -Archer County Sheriffs office
- -Windthorst VFD
- - Scotland VFD
- -Bowman VFD
- -Vernon FD
They will be competing against each other on August 19th at the Archer City Baseball Field at 416 South Popular Street. Prizes will be awarded to the first and second place team.
Where Will The Money Be Going from the Event?
Anything raised will be helping out two families. One of them is Archer Firefighter Zac Garrett in honor of his son Spade Garrett who passed away back in July. The other is Archer firefighter named Twister who had a stroke this year and it will help out with their medical bills.
What Can You Do to Help Out?
Simply show up on Saturday August 19th and cheer on the teams. They will have concessions for sale and a silent auction taking place. Anything raised from there will be going to these two families. If you're interested in making a donation, you can contact the Bowman Volunteer Fire Department at bowmanvfd@gmail.com.
We saw this past weekend how quickly a fire can spread in Wichita Falls. Hopefully if you have some time on August 19th you can go support the men and women who help out our area when a fire breaks out in Texoma.
