Texas’ Favorite Holiday Cocktail Isn’t What You Think
A new study revealed Texas’ favorite holiday cocktail, and it kind of left me scratching my head. Not that I’m a big-time cocktail drinker (I prefer whiskey straight, for the most part), it’s just that it’s one I’ve never seen anyone consume during the holidays.
Then again, the folks I run around with keep it simple like me. When it comes to cocktails, I have two go-to drinks: Bloody Mary and an Old Fashioned. I’m someone who rarely steps out of my comfort zone and into the unknown.

The Holiday Cocktail Texans Apparently Love
That’s why I was surprised to see that Food & Wine declared the Bellini to be the most popular holiday cocktail among Texans. In fact, Texas was the only state in the study whose favorite cocktail is the Bellini. Most states prefer holiday classics, such as apple cider and hot chocolate.
For the unfamiliar, the Bellini is made with Prosecco and peach purée or nectar, meaning I’ll probably never give it a try as I’m no fan of anything containing peaches. But I could see my wife loving it, so I’ll be sure to pass the info along to her.
One thing I will say about the study's results is that they confirm the notion that Texans tend to march to the beat of a different drummer.
