Study Confirms Austin is the Best City for Live Music in the Country
A recent study confirmed what pretty much everyone has known all along.
You don’t have to be from Texas to know that Austin has great nightlife, in general. But it’s the music scene that really sets the city apart from everyone else.
And according to Clever Real Estate, it’s the Number 1 city for live music in the United States.
Austin averages five concert venues per capita and has a total of nine music festivals planned for 2022, which is almost twice as many as the average city in the U.S.
Of course, big festivals like South by Southwest and Austin City Limits immediately come to mind when you think about the Austin music scene. But many of my best concert memories were made in some of the city’s smaller rooms.
Probably the best thing about Austin is that there’s something for fans of every genre. It’s not really tied to one particular style of music like Atlanta is with Hip-Hop and Nashville is with Country.
So yeah, you’re going to be able to find a cool show to hit up in Austin on any given night.
On the flip side, the news isn’t all good for cities here in the Lone Star State.
In stark contrast to our state capital, Houston and Dallas are the worst cities for live music. Both cities average only 1.8 music venues per capita, which is 54% less than the top 15 music cities.
I realize the numbers are what they are and you can’t argue with the statistics. But for my money, Dallas is the best city for concerts simply because I find the energy of the crowds there to be the highest of any city that I’ve ever seen a show in.
