Remember 2007's Death Proof from Quentin Tarantino

Been on a Tarantino kick recently and the movie Death Proof was a part of the double feature of Grindhouse back in the day. Robert Rodriquez directed Planet Terror and Quentin Tarantino did Death Proof. Rodriquez has a lot of love for Austin with so many of his movies being shot there. Tarantino's Death Proof was primarily shot in the iconic car from the movie, but a few scenes do take place in actual Austin restaurants.

Back in 1993, this was actually a feed and seed store in Austin. The old sign is still featured on the top of the building, but nowadays the restaurant is serving up tacos, margaritas, and live music. You can actually see some of those iconic margaritas in Death Proof.

Texas Chili Parlor in Death Proof

Tarantino loves to make appearances in his films and while filming this scene at the Texas Chili Parlor. He does some shots with the group in the film.

Texas Chili Parlor ( 1409 Lavaca St, Austin)

In not shocking news, the Texas Chili Parlor does actually serve chili. They mainly do Tex-Mex cuisine, but actually serve chili on everything. Potatoes, mac and cheese, throw some on top of a burger, or just do a traditional bowl of chili. They actually have a $120 chili dinner, which comes with two bowls of chili, a large Ceasar salad, and a bottle of champagne. That maybe the most expensive chili meal in all of Texas.
