Last weekend I had the pleasure of spending a few hours at the Humane Society of Wichita County. I’ll admit that being a cat person, I spent most of my time in the cat house snuggling cats. I also walked a couple of dogs, hopefully making their day, but my heart was definitely with the kitties. Every animal that I encountered was wonderful, and it was great to actually meet some of the pets that I talk about each week. Even better was seeing one of those pets go out the door by being adopted. These are pets that have a lot of love to give, and they’re waiting for a home. You may be their answer.

The Humane Society shelters pets, gets them the care they need, gives them the love they’re craving, and does their best to place them in permanent homes. Whether you’re looking for an energetic puppy that loves kids to at cat who’s just as laid back and quiet as you are, chances are the Humane Society will have your perfect match.

Also, during the months of July and August, the Humane Society is working with a grant called “Beat the Heat.” It allows people to bring in their pets to get the spayed or neutered for FREE. Pet overpopulation is a real issue, and with this grant, a few more pets can safely be altered, and their owners don’t need to worry about shelling out money. If you’re interested, call 940-723-7387 and ask for the HSWC grant.

May I present our pets of the week. If you’d like to see them in person or get more information on these pets or any other pets that the Humane Society has, check them out online here or call 940-855-4941. They’re located at 4360 Old Iowa Park Road in Wichita Falls.
