Skillet's ninth album, Unleashed, will arrive Aug. 5 through Atlantic Records. They've been building anticipation for the record with the release of the anthemic single "Feel Invincible" and have just doubled down on those fist-pumping moments with another new song, "Back From the Dead."

The song (heard above) opens with a pitter-patter vocal "Ba-bah-ba-ba-ba-bah-bah-bah," drawing a loose comparison to the Trashmen's timeless hit "Surfin' Bird." The song kicks up energy with snare strikes falling on the upbeat, filled in by thumping bass lines between the arena-oriented drumming. The chorus sees the introductory vocal line takes its full form as frontman John Cooper exclaims he's "Back from the dead tonight!"

Speaking about Unleashed, John Cooper stated, “I wanted to make an album that could make people feel the music. I always aim to write songs to which people can relate, but this time I wanted to see not only how the songs would connect lyrically, but also how they’d connect musically.”

Pre-orders for the album can be placed digitally through iTunes or through Amazon for a physical copy. Those who pre-order digitally will receive instant gratification downloads of the two previously released singles, "Feel Invincible" and "Stars."

Catch Skillet on their headlining tour this Fall, which will run from Sept. 22 through Oct. 23. Providing support on the trek will be Thousand Foot Krutch, Sick Puppies and Devour the Day. Not all bands will appear on all stops, so head to our 2016 Guide to Rock + Metal Tours for more details and check listings carefully.
