Wichita Falls Gets Shout Out During AFC Championship Game
In case you missed it, Wichita Falls had a quick mention during the National Anthem of the AFC Championship game.
As many of us were snowed or iced in this weekend in Wichita Falls. You probably checked out some of the NFL Championship games. If you happened to tune in late to the AFC Championship on CBS and missed the National Anthem. Some members of Sheppard Air Force Base were shown on the broadcast.

Sheppard Air Force Base Did Not Do the Flyover Before the Game
I saw some folks assuming that since Sheppard was mentioned during the broadcast. That some of their pilots were the ones who did the flyover shortly after the National Anthem. Turns out, those pilots were from the nearby Colorado Army National Guard. They were flying a four-ship formation of UH-60 Lima Blackhawk helicopters.
Those helicopters are primarily used for search and rescue operations, wildfire response and helping communities during severe weather. “Search and rescues is our big one,” pilot Michael Antinora said. “We fight forest fires, we’ve fed cows in the past for blizzards, we’ve pulled people off the highways during blizzards, all sorts of things.”

Don't forget, Sheppard Air Force Base has done a flyover in Colorado before. They did one before the Air Force Academy game in Colorado Springs, Colorado just about two years ago. Hopefully Sheppard gets shown some more love in the future.
