Texas Rangers Trade 2B Ian Kinsler For Detroit Tiger’s Prince Fielder [POLL]
The Texas Rangers and the Detroit Tigers pulled off a stunning trade on Wednesday night, swapping Ian Kinsler for Prince Fielder.
As first reported by CBSSports.com, the two clubs agreed in principle to swap young stars. Physicals will be needed, but no setbacks are expected.
Many Ranger fans are split on the news of this trade. Kinsler has been a fan favorite for a number of years on his maturity as a pro. Kinsler hit .277 with 13 home runs and 72 RBIs last season with Texas in the first year of a 5-year, $75 million extension. However, some fans argue that despite the numbers, Kinsler has a bad pension for logging untimely outs when the team needed offense.
One thing is for sure - highly touted prospect Jurickson Profar should slide into the second base position on a much more daily basis for manager Ron Washington. Add to that the addition of a big lefty bat in Prince Fielder (.279 with 25 home runs and 106 RBIs last year) and the Rangers look improved, well before spring training.
