It was a big week for Texas Rangers fans and to mark the occasion this little giraffe got to officially announce his name.

In case you were unaware, this past weekend, Adriane Beltre got his 3,000th career hit. Which is not an easy feat to accomplish. Beltre became the thirty-first player to reach the 3,000 hit club. To mark the occasion, the Fort Worth Zoo announced the name of their new born giraffe.

The little guy was born back on June 8 and it looks like they named him Beltre back then. However, they didn't officially announce it to the public until he got that 3,000th hit. Zoo spokeswoman Avery Elander says the calf was big at birth, up on his feet pretty quickly and moving. She says zookeepers also noticed the giraffe's strength, so a decision was made to name him in honor of the Rangers star
