Watch Metallica Perform ‘Through the Never’ Live in Santiago

Now that Metallica are back to touring the world, fans should get ready for an onslaught of live videos to come from the shows. They recently released their encore performance of "Spit Out the Bone" from their Santiago gig and now they're sharing "Through the Never" from the same show; you can check it out below.

According to Metallica's official website, this was the first time that the band played "Through the Never" in Santiago since May 4, 1993. They debuted it onstage on Oct. 12, 1991, in Oakland, Calif., and since then, have performed the track 245 times. "Through the Never" was never released as a single, but it can be found on a number of live releases, including Live Shit: Binge & Purge and Metallica's Six Feet Down Under EP.

In celebration of the 30th anniversary of the "Black Album" in 2021, "Through the Never" was covered by two artists on the massive compilation, The Metallica Blacklist: Mongolian folk rockers The HU and the soul-filled vocalist Tomi Owó. Check out Owó's rendition below.

Metallica perform at Porto Alegre, Brazil, on May 5, followed by three more shows in the South American country. They are set to play Napa, Calif., on May 27 and Boston, Mass., on May 29. Much of the summer finds Metallica covering Europe until they return to the states for two stadium shows in August.
