Metallica Calls Orion Music Festival a Financial Disaster
The Orion music festival is a huge rock concert that goes on in Detroit every year that Metallica puts on. Well looks like 2013 could have been the last Orion festival for Metallica.
Metallica played the 2013 Orion music festival along with other bands such as the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rise Against, Deftones and Dropkick Murphys. In a recent interview, frontman James Hetfield said that the fest had been “a disaster financially and it’s not able to happen again because of that.” Hetfield added, “We’re doing what we can to keep things alive here.”
Metallica have not had a huge American tour since 2009 and the subject of an American tour was also brought up. “I’m not sure what’s going on in the States as far as rock and metal goes and concert-wise, but there’s not really any willingness to get a big show out there and make it worthwhile to actually get out there and play,” he said. “You see other bands gathering up six different bands just to go out and play. It’s pretty tough in North America.”
I feel I speak for everyone that works for the Buzz in saying "Please do another American tour and hit up the Texas or Oklahoma area!"
